Stepping Back

Hi,

As of when i can be bothered to update the oper block, i am stepping down as Co-Founder of Devhat. I will go back to a lolely Global Oper.

It's been an interesting 5 years from normal user in the #darkbasic room to creating this network with Kentaree back in Feb 2005. My life has changed over the years where i do no programming and dare i say it. A life. Has the move from single room to dedicated network worth it? I think so.

Devhat's right to publish things on the website

Hi,

Things posted on here are on here for a reason. For example, spam attacks. We felt that the attack was so dumb, it was worth the post. Now i've been asked to remove it from the site.

My reply? big fat NO.

This site is here to give all visitors of the site the right to know what is going on and what has happened with the network.

Please note, further flood attacks will be posted on this site and if enough happen, we will devote a section of the site to posting all the logs including the ip's of the bots connecting!

You have been warned.

Server Change

Hi,

Over the weekend i decided to shut down BITTER and cancel its subscription. That same day i signed upto another IRCD account and it's now up and running.

COBRA.devhat.net

Please note this is a UK server. UK/EU users will now see a speedup when it comes to doing things.

Changes to Devhat IRC 11-06-08

Hi,

I've updated some configs and done some things, here is what i have done:

- Nickname registrations now require email verification with a confirmation code.
- Put back nick expiry to 90 Days. (someone left it at 30 Days) :o
- #lobby is only accessible to registered users only! register your nick, it's free y'know. For more info on registering your nick type "/msg nickserv help register" for more info or http://www.devhat.org/nickserv-register
- Some defence in case of any more spam attacks.

Some changes to Devhat

Situation of the network

Hey,

It's been a while but i should of updated this.

Winds of change have happened here at Devhat, 2 of our servers were hacked and got taken over. fortunate we had the upper hand since i was able to click *shutdown* on my admin panel while they were taunting me in the chatroom.

JD.devhat.net - will never return.
BITTER.devhat.net - had a OS reload and is now bolted down to stop future hacks.

Currently we only have 2 servers for the network. everclear and bitter, there are no real plans to add more servers at the moment.

Another month, another *cough* flood on the network

At 4:11am UK time the network experienced a level 1 (dumb) flood attack, luckily for us an Oper was on hand at time to use his ban hammer. Enjoy the logs of this failed attempt with full ip's.

Network Changes

Hi,

Today here at Devhat we have made some changes to the network structure:

JD server will disappear from the network next week, the new server is called BITTER.devhat.net. I strongly advise people to keep using the irc.devhat.net round robin. MARTINI server will not be returning and another server will be appearing during the week.

Services, stats and all other fiddly bits that were on JD have been moved to the new BITTER server.
